- GLOSSARY

The language of LinkedIn personal branding.

The metrics, signals, and concepts that matter when you're building professional authority - not chasing vanity numbers. Every term here is measurable. Most are unique to LinkedIQ.

Core metrics
Personal Branding Score
A composite metric that measures whether your LinkedIn writing is building your personal brand. Based on save-to-like ratio, content consistency, and topic focus. Unlike follower count or engagement rate, authority score maps to the professional outcomes that actually matter - being remembered when a role opens up, getting cited by peers, building a reputation that compounds over years.
Introduced by LinkedIQ. No other LinkedIn tool measures personal brand as a composite signal.
Save-to-Like Ratio
The number of saves divided by the number of likes on a LinkedIn post. For senior technical professionals, a ratio above 0.06 indicates genuinely useful content. Above 0.20 indicates reference-grade content - the kind people bookmark and return to. The baseline for most LinkedIn posts is 0.03-0.06.
This is the single most predictive metric for personal brand growth on LinkedIn. Likes measure how it felt to scroll past your post. Saves measure that someone intends to come back to it.
Engagement Quality
A measure of how meaningfully your audience interacts with your content, weighted toward saves and shares rather than likes. High engagement quality correlates with professional opportunities - inbound DMs, interview requests, speaking invitations - while high engagement volume (likes, comments) does not.
LinkedIQ weights saves 3x more than likes when calculating engagement quality.
Topic Concentration
The degree to which your LinkedIn writing focuses on a small number of core topics. Higher concentration correlates with stronger personal brand signals. Most senior ICs who struggle to build a following are not posting too little - they're posting across too many unrelated themes.
LinkedIQ measures topic concentration across your entire post history and flags when you're spreading too thin.
Content concepts
Content Strategy Blueprint
The hidden pattern in your writing - hook types, topic clusters, sentence structure, and engagement rhythm - that defines your unique voice on LinkedIn. Content Strategy Blueprint is extracted by analyzing your entire post history to identify what your most successful posts have in common.
LinkedIQ's Content Strategy Blueprint Engine identifies hook patterns, topic clusters, sentence shape, paragraph rhythm, and storytelling signatures across your post history.
Authority Fragmentation
The dilution of professional authority that occurs when a LinkedIn profile covers too many unrelated topics. The most common reason senior ICs fail to build a following. The fix is not posting more - it's posting with greater topic concentration.
LinkedIQ flags brand fragmentation in your intelligence report and recommends which topics to consolidate.
Content Pillar
A core topic area that your LinkedIn writing consistently covers. Strong authority is built through concentrated pillars, not scattered topics. Most senior professionals have 2-4 content pillars that define their professional identity.
LinkedIQ identifies your content pillars automatically and shows you which ones are building authority and which are fragmenting it.
Voice & identity
Creator Persona
A structured representation of your professional identity across seven dimensions: technical depth (how deep/technical vs. accessible), teaching orientation (teaches concepts vs. shares opinions), authority strength (expert positioning signals), founder orientation (founder/operator vs. IC/engineer perspective), storytelling strength (narrative vs. direct information), opinion strength (sharp takes vs. observations), and AI adoption score (AI topics in your content mix).
The Creator Persona is the foundation of LinkedIQ's voice system. It's built from your profile and post history, and every piece of generated content is matched against it.
Persona Model
A data-driven representation of your professional identity on LinkedIn, generated from your profile text and post history. Includes your positioning sentence, content pillars, audience cohorts, and voice traits. The persona model is the source of truth for all voice-matched content generation.
LinkedIQ builds your persona model from two files: your LinkedIn profile PDF and your post analytics XLSX.
Voice Similarity Score
A 0-100 score measuring how closely a generated draft matches your established writing voice. Calculated as cosine similarity between the post embedding and your profile centroid. A score above 70 means the draft sounds recognizably like you. Below 50 means it needs editing.
Every draft generated by LinkedIQ includes a voice similarity score so you can decide whether to edit or regenerate.
Product terms
Native Export
A file downloaded directly from LinkedIn's own export tools - either a profile PDF or a post analytics XLSX. LinkedIQ requires only these two files and never connects to your LinkedIn account. No API token, no cookie scraping, no third-party connector.
LinkedIn provides these export tools natively. Go to Settings → Data Export to download your profile PDF and post analytics XLSX.
Brand DNA
The output of LinkedIQ's analysis pipeline - a structured summary of your professional identity including positioning, content pillars, voice traits, and audience cohorts. Visible on the Intelligence page. Brand DNA is the answer to "what does the AI actually know about me?"
Brand DNA is built from your Creator Persona and updated every time you import new posts.
Intelligence Page
The page in LinkedIQ that shows you everything the AI has learned about your LinkedIn presence. Two tabs: Brand DNA (positioning, pillars, voice, audience) and Performance (patterns, resonance, fatigue, gaps). The primary trust-building surface in the product.
No competitor has an equivalent. The Intelligence page makes LinkedIQ's analysis visible, inspectable, and correctable.
Research Assist
A feature in LinkedIQ's Studio that turns pasted research into voice-aligned post variants. You provide a topic and paste research - LinkedIQ generates N angle-distinct post variants matched to your voice. You pick the best one. No competitor offers this.
Free users get 3 research generations. Pro users get 50.
Voice Sources
User-supplied writing samples that feed LinkedIQ's voice fingerprint. Two types: authentic writing (your own writing from outside LinkedIn) and style influences (aspirational references - writers you want to sound like). Solves the cold-start problem: get voice-matched content even before you import LinkedIn data.
Free users can add 3 authentic writing samples and 2 style influences. Pro users get 25 and 10 respectively.
Trajectory
LinkedIQ's goal-based content planning system. You set G1-G5 professional goals during onboarding, and LinkedIQ's topic engine generates weekly content recommendations aligned to those goals. Includes weekly nudges to keep you on track. No competitor connects content creation to professional goals.
Trajectory is the difference between a generic content calendar and a strategic plan tied to your actual career objectives.
Competitive terms
Ban Risk
The risk of LinkedIn account restriction or suspension from using tools that connect via cookie scraping or unauthorized API access. LinkedIQ has zero ban risk because it reads only native export files. No competitor that connects to LinkedIn's API can make this claim.
Taplio, Supergrow, and other tools use cookie scraping or API connections. LinkedIn has restricted accounts for this. LinkedIQ's export-only approach eliminates this risk entirely.
Vanity Metrics
Engagement metrics that feel good but don't correlate with professional outcomes: follower count, like count, impression count. Every LinkedIn tool tracks vanity metrics. LinkedIQ tracks authority metrics instead - save-to-like ratio, topic concentration, engagement quality - that actually map to being remembered and getting opportunities.
The name says it all. Vanity metrics are optimized for the platform's revenue, not your professional growth.
