- AUTHOREDUP ALTERNATIVES 2026

AuthoredUp is a great writing tool.
Here are the 9 best AuthoredUp alternatives for when you need more.

AuthoredUp excels at one thing: making your LinkedIn posts better while you write them. But it doesn't do personal brand analysis or AI generation, its analytics stop at post metrics, and its editor only works in Chromium browsers. If any of that is what you need, here's what to use instead - from full platforms to free hooks libraries to tools that also cover X.

Why people look for AuthoredUp alternatives

AuthoredUp does what it does well. The Chrome extension gives you a hooks library, inline formatting, and post draft history. That's genuinely useful if you enjoy writing your own posts and want a better experience inside LinkedIn's native composer. It's less useful if LinkedIn is just one piece of a broader social presence, or if writing isn't the part you need help with.

The reasons people go looking for alternatives fall into four clear categories:

  • They need analytics, not just writing tools. AuthoredUp shows basic post-level metrics. It doesn't tell you what's building your personal brand or why certain posts perform better than others. For that level of analysis, LinkedIQ is the option. Shield Analytics used to cover pure dashboards too, but it shut down in 2026.
  • They need something that isn't a browser extension. AuthoredUp's editor requires a Chromium browser. Its web dashboard covers scheduling and analytics anywhere, but if you write on a different browser, use LinkedIn's mobile app, or just prefer a standalone web app, the core writing experience isn't usable.
  • They want a full AI writing assistant, not just writing aids. AuthoredUp improves your writing through templates and structure. It doesn't generate posts or suggest content ideas for you. Supergrow, ContentIn, and MagicPost all do.
  • They post on more than just LinkedIn. AuthoredUp is LinkedIn-only, by design. If you also write for X and want one tool for both, AuthoredUp can't help - Typefully and Hypefury can.

How we chose these tools

We picked tools that come up repeatedly when professionals search for AuthoredUp alternatives, then evaluated each one against four criteria:

  • LinkedIn-native depth. Is the tool built for LinkedIn specifically, or is LinkedIn a secondary feature bolted onto an X-first product? Typefully and Hypefury fall into the second category - useful, but shallower on LinkedIn than the LinkedIn-only tools.
  • What job it actually does. Writing, analytics, and scheduling are three different jobs. Most tools do one or two well and the third poorly. We call out which is which instead of pretending every tool does everything.
  • Pricing transparency. We link to each tool's public pricing page and note where prices vary by billing cycle or promotion. Where we couldn't confirm an exact figure, we say "around" instead of guessing.
  • Account-safety approach. How does the tool connect to LinkedIn? Taplio uses cookie-scraping, which LinkedIn's terms prohibit and which has led to documented shadowbans. Supergrow, MagicPost, and Typefully use LinkedIn's official API. LinkedIQ uses neither - you export your own data and upload it, so there's no connection to break LinkedIn's terms in the first place.

We did not run these tools through weeks of hands-on testing. What follows is built from each tool's public pricing pages, product documentation, and independent reviews - verified as of July 2026. Verify pricing directly before you buy, since SaaS pricing changes often.

Supergrow
$19/mo Starter · $39/mo Pro
Best full platform

AuthoredUp is narrow by design. If you want AI generation, scheduling, and content strategy in one place instead, Supergrow is the most complete platform that isn't Taplio. It uses the official LinkedIn API, which is safer than Taplio's approach. It also has solid AI voice matching and team features AuthoredUp doesn't offer at all.

Strengths
  • Full platform: AI writing, scheduling, content repurposing, analytics
  • Official LinkedIn API - no account safety concerns
  • Converts video, podcast, and blog content to LinkedIn posts (PostCast)
  • Team and multi-account support, including company pages, for managing multiple LinkedIn profiles
Limitations
  • No personal brand analysis - analytics stop at post-level engagement
  • No Chrome extension for inline writing assistance
ContentIn
$15/mo Essentials · $31/mo Growth · $48/mo Pro
Best for LinkedIn-only AI writing on a budget

ContentIn is a LinkedIn-only AI ghostwriter and scheduler. It trains on your existing posts to match your voice, then generates drafts, carousels, and post ideas from URLs or saved notes. The Essentials tier ($15/mo) covers scheduling and basic analytics without AI. AI writing needs the Growth tier ($31/mo) and up.

It's a narrower, cheaper alternative to Taplio and Supergrow if you only care about LinkedIn and want AI drafting without the account-risk questions cookie-scraping tools raise.

Strengths
  • AI ghostwriter trained on your own post history, not generic templates
  • Idea generation from URLs, notes, and a built-in idea manager
  • Scheduling, comment automation, and a basic analytics dashboard included
  • Cheaper entry point than Supergrow or Taplio for LinkedIn-only use
Limitations
  • No permanent free plan - only a free trial
  • No personal brand or save-to-like analysis, just post-level metrics
  • AI drafting is capped by plan (12 drafts/mo on Growth) rather than unlimited
MagicPost
~$21/mo Analytics · ~$39/mo Creator (most popular)
Best for voice-matched post generation

MagicPost is a LinkedIn-only post generator built around one workflow: import your writing style, then generate posts, hooks, and ideas that sound like you rather than like generic AI. It connects through LinkedIn's official API rather than a browser extension, which MagicPost markets as a safety advantage over cookie-scraping tools like Taplio.

The Analytics plan covers scheduling and LinkedIn metrics without AI generation. The Creator plan, its most popular tier, adds the post and idea generators. Monthly pricing runs higher than the annual-equivalent rate shown on its pricing page, so check both before comparing to other tools here.

Strengths
  • Official LinkedIn API connection - LinkedIn-verified partner status
  • Post generator trained on imported writing style, including other creators' styles
  • LinkedIn metrics dashboard included even on the entry-level plan
Limitations
  • LinkedIn-only - no use if you also post on X or other platforms
  • No permanent free plan - a limited free trial only
  • No personal brand or save-to-like analysis beyond standard LinkedIn metrics
Shield Analytics (shut down 2026)
Discontinued - was $8/mo Basic · $18/mo Pro
No longer available

Shield used to be the established choice for professionals who wanted better LinkedIn analytics than AuthoredUp's basic post stats. It tracked performance since 2019 via the official API. In 2026, LinkedIn and the Chrome Web Store restricted the access Shield depended on, and it shut down.

If you were using Shield, export your historical data first - see the migration guide - then compare what's next in our full Shield Analytics alternatives breakdown.

What it offered (historical)
  • Most comprehensive LinkedIn analytics available - established since 2019
  • Historical data over years, not just recent posts
  • Official LinkedIn API - but that didn't prevent the shutdown
Why it's no longer an option
  • Shut down in 2026 after LinkedIn/Chrome Web Store enforcement
  • Historical data is gone unless exported before the shutdown
Taplio
$39-49/mo + AI credits
Most features - highest risk

Taplio is AuthoredUp's fullest-featured alternative: scheduling, CRM, analytics, Chrome extension, AI generation, and a viral post library. For users who want everything in one subscription, it covers the most ground. The significant caveat is account safety. Taplio uses cookie-scraping to connect to LinkedIn, which LinkedIn's terms prohibit and which has led to documented shadowbans.

Strengths
  • Most complete feature set: scheduling, CRM, AI, Chrome extension
  • Viral content inspiration library
Limitations
  • Cookie-scraping connection - documented account restriction risk
  • AI credits cost $25-100/mo extra beyond base price
  • Optimised for volume, not authority quality
Kleo (free extension shut down 2025)
$99/mo or $999/yr - no free trial
No longer free

Kleo used to be the free pick on this page: a Chrome extension with hooks, formatting, and creator inspiration at zero cost. That changed in June 2025, when LinkedIn forced the extension to shut down. Kleo relaunched as a standalone web app at kleo.so, and the price jumped from free to $99/month (or $999/year), with no public free trial.

The rebuilt product is a fuller suite than the old extension - it now bundles a knowledge base, style guide, image creator, templates, scheduling, and analytics. If you were drawn to Kleo because it was free, that reason no longer applies. At $99/month, it's now one of the more expensive tools in this comparison, not the cheapest.

Strengths
  • Now a fuller writing suite: templates, scheduling, analytics, image creator, group coaching
  • No longer dependent on a Chrome extension LinkedIn can disable
Limitations
  • $99/month (or $999/year) - one of the priciest tools on this page
  • No free tier or trial, unlike its previous version
  • The in-LinkedIn editing workflow that made the original popular is gone
Typefully
Free · from ~$8/mo · AI features from ~$19/mo Creator
Best if you also post on X

Typefully started as a minimal writing and scheduling tool for X, then added support for LinkedIn, Bluesky, and Threads. If your content lives on both X and LinkedIn, it's one of the few tools built to schedule to both from a single, clean editor. LinkedIn is a secondary platform here, not the focus.

The free plan allows one scheduled post at a time - enough to try it, not enough to run a real posting cadence. AI writing assistance is gated behind the Creator plan. Multi-account management for teams sits on the Team plan.

Strengths
  • One tool schedules to X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, and Threads
  • Minimal, distraction-free editor - a genuine contrast to feature-heavy tools like Taplio
  • Free tier exists, unlike Taplio, MagicPost, or Hypefury
Limitations
  • LinkedIn support is thinner than LinkedIn-native tools - no hooks library, no LinkedIn-specific analytics
  • No personal brand or save-to-like analysis
  • Free plan is too limited for daily posting - real use requires a paid plan
Hypefury
From $29/mo Starter · $65/mo Creator (most picked)
Best for X-first automation with LinkedIn cross-posting

Hypefury is built for X: auto-plugs, evergreen reposting, an engagement builder for replying to targeted accounts, and a viral-post inspiration panel. LinkedIn support exists mainly as cross-posting - you write for X, and Hypefury pushes the same content to LinkedIn, including turning threads into LinkedIn carousels.

There's no free plan, only a 7-day trial on any tier. If your main goal is a LinkedIn alternative to AuthoredUp, Hypefury is a poor fit - it's an X growth tool that happens to also touch LinkedIn.

Strengths
  • Strong automation: recurring posts, auto cross-posting, engagement builder
  • Turns X threads into LinkedIn carousels automatically
  • Active support and a mature product - it's been around since 2020
Limitations
  • LinkedIn is a cross-posting target, not a first-class platform - no LinkedIn-native writing tools
  • No free plan - trial only, and the entry-level Starter plan is limited
  • No personal brand analysis, hooks library, or save-to-like data
What is the best AuthoredUp alternative?
Depends on what you need. For authority analytics: LinkedIQ. For a full platform with AI and scheduling: Supergrow. For a genuinely free option: LinkedIQ's free tier or Typefully's free plan. (Shield Analytics, formerly the pure-analytics pick, shut down in 2026 — see our Shield alternatives guide. Kleo's free Chrome extension was also shut down, in 2025, and relaunched as a $99/month web app — see Kleo alternatives.)
What is the difference between AuthoredUp and LinkedIQ?
AuthoredUp helps you write better posts - better hooks, better formatting, better structure, inside LinkedIn's composer. LinkedIQ analyzes the posts you've already written to identify what's building your personal brand. They solve different problems: AuthoredUp is a writing tool, LinkedIQ is an intelligence tool.
Is AuthoredUp Chrome only?
Mostly. AuthoredUp's editor is a browser extension that requires a Chromium browser (Chrome or Edge). Its web dashboard - scheduling, calendar, analytics - works in any browser, but the core writing experience doesn't. LinkedIQ and Supergrow both work as standalone web apps without requiring any browser extension.
Does AuthoredUp have analytics?
Yes - AuthoredUp's web dashboard tracks post metrics over time: impressions, engagement, likes, comments, plus save data via export. What it doesn't do is personal brand analysis: save-to-like ratio benchmarking, Content Strategy Blueprint profiling, or strategic recommendations. AuthoredUp tells you what happened; LinkedIQ tells you why and what to do next.
What's the cheapest AuthoredUp alternative?
LinkedIQ has a free tier with no credit card required. Typefully also has a free plan, though it only allows one scheduled post at a time - paid plans start around $8/month. ContentIn starts at $15/month. Kleo used to be the free pick here, but LinkedIn shut down its free Chrome extension in June 2025 - it now costs $99/month, so it's no longer a budget option.
Which AuthoredUp alternative works for both X and LinkedIn?
Typefully and Hypefury both post to X and LinkedIn from one tool. Typefully started as an X scheduler and added LinkedIn, Bluesky, and Threads later - it stays LinkedIn-light. Hypefury is built X-first, with LinkedIn handled mainly through cross-posting and carousel conversion. If LinkedIn is your primary platform, a LinkedIn-native tool like LinkedIQ, ContentIn, or MagicPost will go deeper.
Is there a free AI writer for LinkedIn posts?
Not a fully free one with unlimited AI generation. LinkedIQ's free tier covers analysis, not writing. ContentIn and MagicPost both require a paid plan for AI post generation after a trial period. Typefully's free tier covers scheduling, not AI writing. Kleo used to offer free hooks and formatting templates, but that free extension was shut down in 2025 - the current $99/month web app has no free option at all. If budget is the deciding factor, expect to pay something once you want AI-generated drafts, not just templates.
